Be the Church Challenge
The COVID pandemic has moved us into uncharted territory that can be scary. However, it is has also an opportunity for us to be the church instead of just having church. Here is a list of ways that we can serve on another as the Body of Christ. Each day we will offering a new a new challenge. Feel free to contact us, with new ideas to share with others. Let’s put our Faith in Action!

  • Feed the Front Line! For each $150 raised Pops Italian Beef will deliver 25 individually bagged meals to South Suburban ICU, Ingalls Hospital, or St James of Olympia Fields    https://www.gofundme.com/f/7drqe2-feed-the-front-line.

  • Check in with our Senior Saints who may be homebound or uncomfortable about venturing to see if there is any way you can serve them. For e.g. Picking up and delivering food or medicine.
  • Collect and donate loose change that can be donated to people in need.
  • Random calls of Connection. Social isolation is going to be very hard on people. Using the church directory, call people whom you may not know to check on or pray with them.
  • Send someone a note or email of encouragement.
  • Use social media (for e.g. Facebook, Skype, Google Hangout, Duo) to connect with others for conversation, prayer of Bible study.
  • Using the church directory, pray for a page of fellow members each day.
  • Generate funds to donate to a worthy cause or someone in need by living on ½ of your weekly food budget
  • Generate funds to donate to a worthy cause or someone in need by contributing the money you are saving by not having to commute to work.
  • Generate funds to donate to a worthy cause or someone in need by contributing the money you are saving by giving up Starbucks a few times per week.
  • Offer your time or talents to meet a need that someone may have.

March 27:  Riverdale Youth for Christ

Riverdale Youth for Christ has temporarily postponed all scheduled events. Youth checkups are done on Thursdays and Sundays. Homework help is available by contacting Pat via phone, app, or Facebook.
During this challenging time, we are covering our youth in prayers and spiritual words of encouragement and empowerment. Here are the current scriptures they're encouraged to study:

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalms 27:1

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

  • If you are not getting our daily e-blasts of encouragement, please contact the church office and we will get you on the list!  Call – 708-709-0100 or email – info@livingspringscc.org.

LSCC COVID-19 Statement :  In Light of the current coronavirus pandemic, and the CDC and governmental guidelines, as a church we are offering the following directives to care for our loved ones, church family and community, and to limit the spread of this virus.
We want to care for you!  Particularly if you are homebound, have health needs or are uncomfortable leaving the house at this time, there are a number of members who are willing to get food, medicine or take care of other needs you might have.  If you have a need, please contact:
  • Your Church Elder.  Your elder contact information can be found on the website or by calling the office.
  • If you have an immediate or urgent need please call 708-709-0100 ext. 11.  We will do everything we can to provide for the needs you may have
  • As always, you can also contact a pastor or a church staff member.
We are temporarily suspending all in-person gatherings at both Living Springs locations until March 31.  As you know this is a constantly changing situation, so we will provide regular updates and spiritual guidance.  Please continue to check your email and our website Livingspringscc.org and facebook page.
  • Participate in Weekly Worship Services Online!  Services will be recorded and posted on our website, App and Facebook page.
  • The temporary suspension includes all classes, ministries (including children and youth), Bible Studies, and small groups that meet at the church building.
  • We will have limited office and food pantry hours (Weekday 9a.m. – 11:30p.m.)  Staff will continue to be available to meet needs of any members or friends.
  • We recommend for safety and consistency that you suspend home groups as well.
Please continue loving, reaching out and caring for one another via calls, texts, and all the technology available to us.
We are also using this time for a deep clean of all of our facilities!
We understand that this is a time of great uncertainty that can easily produce anxiety and fear.  Our faith reminds us that if God is for us who can be against us?  We don’t have to live in fear, because we know that God is still in control!  Now is not the time to doubt, but to lean into your faith.  We are praying for you, and we ask that you keep the church and its leaders in prayer as well.
Respectfully Submitted
Pastors Dave Izenbart, Jason Perry, and Ann Bilbrew
