Dear Congregation Members:
Please help us nominate people for the office of elder or deacon in our congregation.  In a few months, we will need 2 Administrative Elders, 2 Administrative Deacons, and 1 Benevolent Deacon. These are the ordained leadership of the church, and they have the task of leading Living Springs with vision according to God's word. Nominations are needed by September 30 and can be dropped off in Keith Piepenbrink's mailbox or emailed to    mailto:
As many of you are aware by now, there has been a new selection method for placing gifted leaders in the important roles of Elders and Deacons. The following is the approved procedure from Consistory and that was presented at the Family Meeting:
  1. Praying for Leaders Corporately, and calling for nominations.  In this way we can engage the church in identifying those who are already doing the work of elder/deacon.  The whole church is being involved and educated in this process.
  2. Nominations from the Congregation and Elders are prayerfully processed in the Consistory Leadership.
  3. Then these Elders/Deacons (one candidate for each position needed) are contacted and encouraged to take the position.
  4. Then these emerging leaders are trained and disciple into their new role (For approximately 3-4 months).
  5. Then they are ordained/Installed in January.
The key to this whole process is to receive a good number of representative nominations from our membership. This is why we need you to prayerfully submit names of qualified church members. In making your nominations, please keep in mind that this is not a popularity contest. We are looking for God to direct us through you to men and women who have qualifications for Christian leadership. Some of these qualities are:

  • Willingness to serve (Mark 10:42-45)
  • Spiritual giftedness (I Corinthians 12:4-11)
  • Having a vision for the church's spiritual growth (Ephesians 4:1-13)
  • Having a heart for people (I Thessalonians 2:6-12)
  • Moral integrity (I Timothy 3:1-13)

Eligible people are all adult men and women who are members of the congregation and who are not presently serving as elders or deacons or have served in the previous 2 years. Also, please keep in mind that we are intentionally inclusive; and we seek to have a leadership that represents the diversity of the congregation.
Yours in the Love of Christ,
 David Izenbart-Senior Pastor
